Perodua Eco Challenge 2012


Melaka, 13th July: A total of 21 students from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS participated in a two-day event held at the Melaka Motorsport International Circuit (MIMC) organised by Perodua Corporate Responsibility Program. The objective of the programme is to promote innovative skills and creativity in students. Participating teams are required to build a car which is dynamic and fuel efficient by enhancing the engines and the outlook of existing cars.

The commitment of our fellow students has earned them a place in the 4th position out of 13 teams that participated. The team leader, Muhammad Naim al Amin bin Saharudin was very thankful and proud of the effort and the commitment his fellow team mates had shown throughout the process. Improvements can still be made but everyone is grateful to be a part of this event.

International Culture Night


Tronoh, 13th July - International   Culture Night (ICN) was organised by the International Students Council (ISC) on 13 July 2012 at UTP Chancellor Hall to set a stage for  different nationalities to promote and showcase their various cultural dances and songs. The theme of ICN for this year was “Our Children, Our Future”, which was related to the event’s objective of raising awareness level towards child abuse issue among UTP students. Deputy Vice Chancellor Students Affairs & Alumni, Tuan Haji Mohamed Noor Rosli bin Baharom, Acting Senior Manager of Student Support Services Department, Tuan Haji Talhah bin Hasan, President of the Student Representative Council, Wan Ibrahim bin Wan Mamat and President of the International Student Council Djengomgoto Gerard attended this event, showing their support for cultural interaction. The representatives of 10 countries (Chad, Indonesia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, South Sudan and Mozambique) displayed their countries’ unique cultures. Apart from that, the event also included performances from the UTP Performing Arts Group, International Culture Group, Gajjdi Jawani, Interbeatz and Fatih Bilingual School from Aceh, Indonesia. ICN for this year ended with “Macarena” performed by the organising committee.

SEDEX 30


TRONOH, 9 JULY. One of the biggest events at Universiti Teknologi Petronas, SEDEX 30 was successfully held at the Foyer of Chancellor Hall. The purpose of SEDEX is to act as a platform to showcase the research and  innovation activities to the University’s campus community. The event was split into several categories which included Final Year Project (FYP), Engineering Team Project (ETP), Open Innovation Challenge (OIC) and Young     Inventor’s catagories (YIC). More than 100 teams took part in this two-day event.

The difference between SEDEX 30 and the previous SEDEX are the various games and activities conducted as well as the grand prize of RM1000 up for grabs. Green Domino, Wheel of Fortune were examples of the games organized by SEDEX 30. Prizes for these games included pendrives, earphone,s Impiana Hotel vouchers, Underwater World tickets, Berjaya shopping vouchers and lots more! “The event was really fun! It gives me and my team mates a good chance to show our project idea to the public and by participating in the games and activities, I won a lot of prizes.” said one of the participants of OIC.

 “Although it was very tiring for us, everything was worthwhile when we saw the success of SEDEX 30.” said one of the committee members of SEDEX 30. Our Vice Chancellor also stated tin his speech hat it was a job well done.

The next SEDEX will be carried out in 2013 January semester. Let’s look forward for it!
