Minggu Mesra Kampus (MMK) Sept '12




Tronoh, 9th October- Always hoped for a chance to win hampers and a brand new Samsung Galaxy W? You might have just missed the chance to do so. These were some of the attractive prize offered by the organizer of Minggu Mesra Kampus (MMK), Students Representative Council (MPPUTP). For the first time ever, the event took place at Pocket C foyer and was held for three days. It was organized to attract students’ active involvement in clubs and  societies as well as to increase awareness amongst students about the happenings on campus. Moreover, the event was held there to promote Pocket C Student Centre to students especially those from the new intake.

Booths were set up by clubs and societies for introduction and recruitment purposes.   Among the organisation that participated were the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), English Language Club (ELC), International Culture Club (ICC), The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), UTP Robotics Society (PETROBOTS) and many more. Apart from that, the student bodies of UTP comprising of Friends of IRC (FIRC), Sekretariat Rakan Muda (SRM), Residential College Support Unit (RCSU) and MPPUTP had booths to keep students updated on upcoming events.

A martial arts demonstration was performed by the Aikido Club, International Muaythai Club and Taekwondo Club in which excellent skills in self-protection were displayed by their members. In addition, activities such as lucky draw, games and paintball matches added excitement to the event. There was also a flash mob dance performance given by members of AIESEC in conjunction with its upcoming events that focuses on HIV/AIDS and exchange programs. Furthermore, there were vendors at the event promoting and selling their products such as clothes, food, drinks, and computer gadgets.

The project manager, Muhamad Azizi bin Amat Zainordin expressed his gratitude to the management of UTP, all presidents of clubs and societies, and parties who had directly or indirectly contributed to the success of MMK. He also expressed hope that the event could be held in a larger scale in  future.
