Goodbye Academia!

Chancellor Hall, 27th October – Smiles and laughter were all about as new graduates reached the pinnacle of their student life in UTP. The 13th Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Convocation Ceremony was held to celebrate the 1147 (with 157 postgraduate) students who had finished their studies.

The two-session ceremony was attended by UTP’s Pro Chancellors, UTP’s Board of Directors, representatives from other universities, and graduates’ family members (up to 2 per graduate). The graduation scrolls were presented to the fresh grads by UTP’s Pro Chancellor, YBhg Tan Sri Sidek Hassan.

There were also awards given to the students who had astounding achievements throughout the course of studying in UTP, be it, in academic or in extracurricular activities. The Golden Chancellor Award was given to Lee Hsiu Eik, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) Civil. In his speech, he shared his experience living as a student in UTP. He mentioned that every student should have a role other than being a student, so that their life will be better. Currently, he is continuing his Masters studies in UTP.

First ever Counter Strike competition in UTP!

Tronoh, 3rd October- Gamers on campus unite as they eagerly register themselves for an unexpected pre-event organized by UTP Colors of Ranggoli Night- a Counter Strike (CScompetition. Gamers were seen geared up with their Bluetooth mouses and branded headphones such as Beats Audio, braced to show off their gaming prowess and tactical skills.

The list of winners are as below with the champion garnering RM 100 of cash prize and the two runner ups RM 75 and RM 50 respectively.

Six, earned & owned! - UTPians Triumph at STS & Students Sports Day 2013

Bangi, 19th October – Organised by Sponsorship & Talent Sourcing Unit (STS) Petronas, STS & Students Sports Day 2013 was held for the first time in Galaxy Futsal Bangi.
The main event, the futsal tournament, had its fair share of supporters coming from all age groups; kids, sons, daughters, friends, teammates, the young and the old. Participants of the tournament consisted of three major teams: Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), STS, and Pre-U (Petronas sponsored students from International Education College (INTEC) & Taylor’s University).
The continuous cheers for UTP participants proved to be effective when they won first place in the futsal tournament, with an accumulative score of 6 games out of a total of 7.

Right after the futsal tournament, participants were brought to Petronas Leadership Centre (PLC) for lunch and the continuation of the sports day games. For a day dedicated to sports, the participants controlled themselves well in front of the delightful feast prepared. Their sportsmanship & dedication to health are commendable.
Awards were later on presented to the winners.
