Chancellor Hall, 19th October 2014 – “For the graduates, we wish you success in your future careers, knowing that your success will also be the University’s success,” words spoken by our very own Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, Chancellor of University Teknologi Petronas (UTP) during the 14th annual Convocation Ceremony in Chancellor Hall, UTP. Convocation is held annually, celebrating the hard work and excellence of its newly minted alumni.  This year, there were a total of 1278 students graduating from various programmes.

The ceremony was divided into two sessions; one in the morning officiated by our beloved Chancellor and one in the afternoon officiated by the Pro Chancellor of UTP.

The Gold Chancellor Award, awarded to the highest achieving undergraduate student was presented to Norazwan Wahid from Petroleum Engineering, while the Silver Chancellor Award was awarded to Vivian Lim Zher Yee from the Mechanical Engineering programme. As for Final Year Project Award, one of the grantees was Lok Chen Chuang from Chemical Engineering program.

The Best International Undergraduate Student Award was presented to Tran Duc Chung, a Vietnamese student from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering program.

This year’s UTP Alumni Awards for Best Researcher— which were first introduced in the 12th Convocation Ceremony as a recognition for the contribution by postgraduate students for propelling the university to achieving the Research University status; went to Ali Samer Muhsan from Iraq who achieved his Doctorate of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering, and Norzaireen Mohd Azmee from Malaysia who completed her Masters of Science in Civil Engineering.
